‘Companion’ Screens Internationally
‘Companion’ (Sahela) has been screening at local and international film festivals including the London Indian Film Festival, SXSW in Sydney and the Adelaide Film Festival. The movie was filmed in Sydney last year under the title ‘KNOT’ and includes 135 MCTV members.
‘Companion’ tells the story of Vir (Antonio Aakeel) and Nitya (Anula Navlekar), a happily married couple living in Parramatta, Sydney. They love to play the sitar together, she is a successful dentist, and he is studying for his accounting exam. However when Vir chooses to be open about his sexuality, everyone must confront their own cultural shame.
Well done to everyone involved. Hopefully the film will get wider release soon, no trailer yet, but you can check out glimpses from the movie in this promo for the LIFF.
