Playing the role of the grieving Asian relative in this funeral procession which also happened to feature in the trailer (below). Shot around Sydney last year with other MCTV supporting actors Katie, Louise, Trudi and Frankie but destined for cinema screens in Hong Kong. It’s often difficult to find the trailers for movies that head offshore like this, so a big thanks to An for finding it.
The Australian federal government has provided a $24M location offset to secure a new Marvel movie to shoot at (Disney) Fox Studios. This is the first major announcement of a movie shooting at Fox studios since the Disney took ownership of the studios last month as part of the acquisition of 21st Century Fox. Neither Disney or the federal government will confirm the title of the movie but there is plenty of speculation in the Australian media. Now that Disney owns a movie production studio in Sydney, there could be much more to come. It’s great news for MCTV talent with plenty of opportunities available in movies like these with somewhere between 200 and 400 roles for MCTV background performers being quite common. With 74 MCTV people appearing in season 3, we can’t wait to get started on season 4. One of the highest rating dramas on Australian TV, Doctor Doctor has a ton of fans who would line up around the block for an opportunity like this.
The second season of Matt Okine’s TV series The Other Guy is just about to start shooting here in Sydney. If you didn’t see the first season, it’s available to stream on Stan (trailer below). MCTV had 65 people on the first season so we hope for more great opportunities for MCTV people on the second season.
I think my kids are going to love this one. 63 MCTV Kids and some adults were given an awesome opportunity to be part of this new kids TV series. The trailer looks pretty good to me. Can’t wait till it hits our screens on April 1st. Despite the date, it’s no April fools joke.
Rebel Wilson on the Set of Les Norton
The new 10 part drama series Les Norton has begun shooting in Sydney. There have already been some great opportunities for MCTV people including possible speaking parts. Rebel Wilson, David Wenham and Alex Bertrand star in the series so it’s pretty exciting for any of the talent who are involved to be shooting scenes which such big names. Shooting will likely run for several months so there should be plenty of opportunities on this as well as many other series that are shooting in Sydney right now. This week we say goodbye to Peter Rabbit 2 and Hello to season 2 of Mr Inbetween. It’s been about 2 months since shooting started on Peter Rabbit 2 and this week they will finish shooting scenes here in Sydney. It’s been great fun for over 75 MCTV people who were lucky enough to be selected for the production. Many of them with multiple shooting dates. And while we are on the subject of shooting. The new series of Mr Inbetween starts shooting (bad pun intended) in the next couple of weeks. There will be more great opportunities particularly since season 1 met with such critical acclaim.
