Checkout Julian’s great work in this campaign for the Commonwealth Bank. Julian has been doing background work with MCTV for a few years now and has done work for Google, The Invisible Man, Mr Inbetween, The Commons, Samsung, Stonleigh Wines, Jim Beam, Mazda and plenty of others. He’s built up some great experience and we can’t wait to see what role he lands next.
The first shots from The Commons are looking very good. The cast is stacked with talent and Pedestrian TV has a shot of each of the main cast members on set. Last I checked we had over 200 people on The Commons but that figure has grown since then. Production is winding down now but the Drovers Wife is starting up and The Fallout is still going strong.
Comicbook.com has published what they think is the production start date for the new Marvel movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings shooting in Sydney. They base it on a listing from a film industry website in the US but also have some more details about the upcoming movie. This probably means that go-sees may happen during November/December 2019 with filming to start in 2020 but the exact dates are anyone’s guess.
So thrilled that one of our MCTV people has secured a bit part in the upcoming series The Drovers Wife. We have also secured a number of background extra roles already with wardrobe fittings already under way.
The Drovers Wife is a revenge western that asks the question, how far will you go to protect the ones you love?
A small number of our MCTV kids were lucky enough to be picked for a new Nintendo commercial that shot here in Sydney last week. I’m sure Mario would be proud of them all.

Clickbait will be produced by renowned Australian writer and director Tony Ayres, who has previously worked on The Slap, Home Song Stories, The Family Law and is currently filming the Cate Blanchett series Stateless.
Clickbait is a “character-based thriller which explores the ways in which our most dangerous and uncontrolled impulses are fuelled in the age of social media, and reveals the ever widening fractures we find between our virtual and real life personas”
Clickbait will film at Docklands Studios in Melbourne in the coming months. While it is unlikely that MCTV will supply any extras for the new series we have been submitting actors for supporting roles.

The Commons is a new big budget TV series by Stan that is still filming in Sydney. Already MCTV has had just over 200 people filming the series with still more being sent each day.
The series will star Golden Globe Winner and three-time Emmy Nominee, Joanne Froggatt (Liar, Downton Abbey, A Crooked Somebody), as well as Damon Herriman (Once Upon A Time in Hollywood, Judy and Punch, Stan’s Perpetual Grace, LTD) in a supporting role.
The Commons is a character-driven thriller which plays out at the intersection of climate change and the cutting edge of biotechnology. Part mystery, part relationship drama, it puts a very human face on what’s coming down the road and the heroism that lies inside us all when our backs are against the wall.
Leah Purcell will play the lead role and direct the film which is due to start shooting in the Snowy Mountains soon. A re-imagining of Henry Lawson’s short story of the same name, this revenge western already has the interest of Hollywood and Netflix with a spin off TV series under negotiation. Putting the social media furore over the title aside, the trailer for Total Control looks really good to me. We had 64 people involved with the shooting of Total Control and I bet any of them will be watching closely to spot themselves.
As part of a major event, some MCTV people played the role of convict and jailor (a little too convincingly IMHO) to a live audience. They had an absolute ball mucking around in-character (despite what you might think from looking at their faces). Well done to everyone the gig was a real success.
