Natalie Portman in training for Thor: Love and Thunder

Natalie Portman has confirmed that she is ” starting to train, to get muscles” in preparation for Thor: Love and Thunder which will start shooting in the new year. That means that pre-production will be starting soon and all the casting briefs for supporting roles should be hitting our desks soon. New Stan series Dom and Adrian 2020

I’m so happy to see the Bondi Hipsters back again with a new series. As a huge fan of their previous production Soul Mates, the synopsis of the new series sounds like it’s going to be just as funny. Can’t wait for this one to start.

Having been billed to play at a premier bush doof, Dom and Adrian’s USBJ’ing (DJing with pre-loaded USBs) career was on precipice of taking off… when the bushfires hit. They were next booked to play a bushfire fundraiser when the floods washed through. Then they were going to headline a flood-relief show when the hail storms came down. And now, the night before their biggest gig yet, raising money for the #PanelBeatBondiAiD movement, the whole country was thrown into lockdown because of one little global pandemic, “Such a nanny state!”. In spite of the initial personal turmoil, the two best friends quickly see all this as an opportunity to refocus, “pivot” and evolve creatively – but as time goes on, it’s not only their creativity and entrepreneurial-ship that’s tested, but their friendship and sanity.

Keep your eye glued on Stan for this one.

New series Amazing Grace to start shooting soon!

Channel Nine are about to start production on a powerful new series called Amazing Grace.

Amazing Grace is centred on midwife Grace (Kate Jenkinson) and her passionate colleagues at an unconventional birth centre attached to a major city hospital. A fierce advocate for her pregnant mothers-to- be, Grace’s dubious work/life balance is about to get even more chaotic when a new arrival at the birth centre changes her life forever.

International distribution rights have already been sold to Sony Pictures so it looks like this one will be well funded and have plenty of opportunities for background and supporting roles.

37 MCTV People so far on new Stan series Bump

Production on the new Stan series Bump has been running here for just over a month and already we’ve had 37 people performing in background roles in the production. Production on a series like this will normally go for 3 or 4 months so there should be many more opportunities around.

Bump is a 10-part drama series that centres around Oly (played by Nathalie Morris), an ambitious and high-achieving teenage girl who has a surprise baby; and the complications that ensue for two families. Set in and around a high school in contemporary inner Sydney and following the main characters home, Bump explores unexpected motherhood, unwelcome new relatives, and unintended consequences with humour and emotional honesty.

Mr Inbetween Season 3 to start shooting soon

Such great news that Mr Inbetween season 3 will be shooting soon. It’s great to see international success for such a uniquely Australian production. The team at Jungle Entertainment have a great job and deserve all the accolades this series has received. You can read more about the great work they are doing in the US in Deadline.

MCTV has had around 300 people in the first two series and we are looking forward to whatever opportunities the third series brings.

Submitting for new feature film Here Out West

Here out west is an exciting anthology film about to start filming.

“A baby is stolen from a busy, Western Sydney hospital. The apparent kidnapping will cause eight separate lives to intersect in surprising, dramatic and affecting ways over one day in Western Sydney.

But, HERE OUT WEST is about more than this one rash act. It’s about Western Sydney as a place, a series of vibrant and overlapping communities. Love. Betrayal. Family. Community. These are the distinct, yet interwoven stories of HERE OUT WEST”

We have already started submitting a range of people from different ethnic groups and we are expecting to have a very diverse group of people in this production since each of the eight parts of the film seems to cover a different ethnic segment within Sydney’s western suburbs.

MCTV people in wacky Brawl Stars promo

There’s never a dull moment here at MCTV and this promo for Brawl Stars proves it. Brawl Stars is a popular game for mobile devices and our MCTV people were lucky enough to be involved in this wacky promo video which runs for almost 9 minutes. You really wouldn’t guess that it was filmed here in Sydney and is a testament to the quality of the work that is produced here these days. Well done to everyone who was involved!

 

A day in the life of Chloe Bayliss on the set of Doctor Doctor

With season 5 about to start shooting, it’s great for anyone who is hoping for a role on the new season to see what the set is like and who’s who on set. Submitting for new online series “The Tailings” from SBS

The Tailings is a “6 x 10 minute series follows a daughter’s investigation into her father’s death. It takes place in her tight-knit, remote community in the wilderness of the West Coast of Tasmania.” This series will be delivered through SBS On Demand and, the team hope to follow the success of AACTA-award winning series Robbie Hood.

The main opportunities for this one are for our more experienced actors, but if you have missed the recent announcements, there is plenty of work coming up for background extras too.

Submitting for new Stan series Eden

It’s so great to see so many TV series starting production after the delays caused by COVID. We are now working on Wakefield, Bump, Back to the Rafters, The Unusual Suspects and now we are submitting talent for new Stan Original Series Eden too. The great news is that Stan is planning to produce 30 original series a year.

Eden is “a brand new eight-part Stan Original Series which lays bare the dark and secret lives of a raft of characters in a place that looks very much like paradise.”

The series is being shot in the northern rivers region around Byron Bay so the majority of extras roles will be supplied from that area, but MCTV is submitting for other supporting roles at the moment. It’s a great opportunity for our more experienced actors.
