Film Fund Reinstated
Feels like we have been on a rollercoaster the last few weeks…but we are so thrilled that the State Government have reversed their controversial budget decision to cut funding to the local film and TV industry.
The Made in NSW fund, which attracted blockbuster movies such as ‘Thor: Love and Thunder‘ and ‘The Fall Guy‘ to be made in NSW, was to be cut according to the recent state budget.
According to the government’s own figures, for every dollar spent on the Made in NSW program there is an economic benefit of $20-$21 to NSW. Without the extra support, film projects may be lost to other states (who provide incentives) and with it the expertise of our local film industry.
After industry lobbying, The Made in NSW fund will now continue on existing terms to eligible projects while the government works with industry to develop new initiatives for the screen and digital games sector.
This is a great announcement for the local film and TV industry. We look forward to attracting more big and international projects for NSW under the scheme.
