Equity Award Winners Announced
The annual Equity Ensemble Awards were held last Sunday night with almost all winners including MCTV talent. The awards were started in 2011 by the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance’s Equity Foundation to celebrate Australian actors and the Australian stories the tell on the small screen.
‘Colin from Accounts‘ (Foxtel/Binge) took out the Comedy category, with the judges commenting “The supporting actors and the leads formed a cohesive unit and the series was richer for it. Most importantly, we found ourselves laughing out loud throughout!”. 64 MCTV extras appeared in this.
The Miniseries winner was ‘Significant Others‘ (ABCTV), in which a family struggles to piece together their lives after a loved one vanishes. 35 MCTV extras appeared on this one. ‘Barons‘ (ABCTV) and ‘The Twelve‘ (Foxtel) were runners up in this category and included 16 and 56 MCTV members, respectively.
The Drama category was taken out by ‘Mystery Road’ series 2. ‘Heartbreak High‘ (Netflix) was runner up which included 114 MCTV members.
It has been a great year for Aussie and specifically Sydney productions as showcased by these awards. Congratulations to all nominees and winners. Thank you and well done to all the MCTV members who contributed to the success of these productions, great effort!
