$400m government funding for blockbusters to shoot downunder

A huge round of applause for the federal government in boosting funding for foreign productions filming in Australia! We expect thousands of new background extra roles over the next few years due to the foreign investment that this attracts. The last funding round in 2018 attracted movies like Peter Rabbit, Thor, The Invisible Man, Shang Chi and Alien Covenant. Each of these movies usually generates roles for 200 – 300 MCTV people and so many other roles for production people too. The great news is that the last funding round was only $140m and this new round is $400m, so we should expect a significant boom in productions in the near future. The other great thing is that the productions have to compete for this funding so only the ones offering the greatest benefit to Australia will win the tax offsets.
